    About SuppIndex

SuppIndex is a neutral, evidence-graded reference for dietary supplement ingredients. We index 276+ ingredients and 776+ clinical studies so that consumers, athletes, clinicians and formulators can see what the research actually supports — without marketing spin or paid placements.

    How evidence scores work

Every ingredient receives an overall 0–100 evidence score built from the human research we have indexed for it:

    • • Study quality — randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses weigh more than observational or preclinical work.
    • • Quantity and consistency — repeated, independent findings score higher than single trials.
    • • Dose-response clarity — whether effective doses are established and practical.
    • • Safety data — tolerability, interactions and contraindications.

Scores map to levels: Strong, Moderate and Emerging. Emerging ingredients with promising but early research may additionally show a separate “potential” score so the two are never conflated.

    Editorial policy

    • • Source-cited: factual claims on ingredient and article pages are tied to indexed studies, cited with PubMed IDs or DOIs wherever available.
    • • Independent: evidence scores and rankings are never for sale. Brands cannot pay to change a score. Affiliate links, where present, are disclosed with rel="sponsored" and do not affect grading.
    • • Reviewed: content is produced and reviewed by the SuppIndex research team against the indexed literature before publication.
    • • Dated: ingredient pages display a “Last reviewed” date; articles carry published and updated dates.
    • • Corrections: found an error? Email us and we will review and correct promptly.

    What we cover

Each ingredient page covers mechanism of action, graded clinical evidence with study summaries, effective dosage ranges, safety and interaction data, and any trademarked (branded) forms of the raw material with their manufacturers, certifications and patents. The compliance register tracks Novel Food (GB/EU) and NDI/GRAS (US) regulatory status.

    Update cadence

The index is updated continuously: new ingredients move through a moderated review queue, study lists are expanded as new research is indexed, and regulatory/news coverage is published as it develops. Sitemaps and search engines are pinged automatically on every publish.
